MentorX respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive:

Apple User ID (a unique identifier)
Email address (if you choose to share it)
Display name (if you choose to share it)

1.2 Profile Information

Information you voluntarily provide:

Nickname
Profile avatar (uploaded from your camera or photo library)

1.3 Conversation Data

When you use MentorX, we store:

Messages you send to AI mentors
AI-generated responses
Conversation session metadata (timestamps, mentor selection)

1.4 Usage Data

We automatically collect:

Device type and operating system version
App version
Daily chat usage count (for free tier quota management)
Subscription status
General analytics (via Firebase Analytics)

1.5 Data We Do NOT Collect

Photos or camera data (except profile avatars you voluntarily upload)
Contacts or address book
Location data
Health or biometric data
Browsing history outside the app

3. Data Storage & Security

Cloud Storage: Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase (Firestore) with encryption at rest and in transit.

Local Storage: Conversation history is cached locally on your device using a local SQLite database for faster loading. This data is isolated per user account.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data
Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only
We do not sell your personal data to third parties

4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

MentorX uses the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, analytics, cloud messaging
Apple Sign-In — User authentication
App Store (Apple) — Subscription payment processing
Google Gemini (Google AI) — AI conversation generation

4.1 AI Conversation Data Sharing

What data is sent: When you send a message to an AI mentor, the text content of your message and relevant conversation context are sent to Google's Gemini AI service for response generation.

Who receives the data: Your conversation messages are processed by Google Gemini (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA).

Purpose: The sole purpose of sharing this data is to generate AI mentor responses to your messages.

What is NOT sent: Your Apple ID, email address, device information, or any other personal account data is NOT sent to Google Gemini. Only the conversation text content is transmitted.

Google's privacy practices for Gemini AI are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use your conversations to train or improve AI models. Google processes the data in accordance with their data processing terms.

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

5. Data Retention

Active accounts: Data is retained as long as your account is active
Deleted accounts: All personal data and conversation history are permanently deleted upon account deletion
Logout: Logging out does not delete your data — it remains available when you log back in
Local cache: Conversation cache on your device is isolated per account and is cleared when you delete your account

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data through the app
Update your profile information at any time
Delete your account and all associated data
Export — Contact us if you need a copy of your data
Opt out of analytics by disabling it in your device settings

7. Children's Privacy

MentorX is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete it.

8. Push Notifications

MentorX may send push notifications for system updates and important announcements. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use of MentorX after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
